Welcome to the August edition of the Waiheke Escapes client newsletter. As we farewell the autumn season here in New Zealand, we look forward to the sunny days of the winter season. 

Well done to “Emirates Team New Zealand” for winning the 35th America’s Cup beating BMW Oracle in Bermuda 7-1. The America’s Cup what does it mean to NZ Tourism? The Americas Cup and the Lions visit have put New Zealand on the world stage again and in the minds of millions of potential visitors across the globe. ‘This win yet again highlights New Zealand on the global stage and it’s been fantastic advertising that money just can’t buy…….

Waiheke Escapes has seen significant growth from our European markets recently with an increase in inquiry from Germany, and from the UK, followed by Australia, France and the US for the year ending December 2016. We’re also witnessing a continuing trend of these visitors coming to New Zealand in the shoulder seasons.

We recently launched “ Collaborative Facebook “ and an email marketing campaign with our network partners which is of the ongoing projects we are doing to promote Waiheke Escapes

International Expansions & Acquisitions: I’m also really excited to talk more about our partnership with the various Trade Organisations around the world. Waiheke Escapes is now a member of the New Zealand Specialist program. What does this mean for you? Waiheke Escapes Holiday homes are now listed on the consumer website which receives over 30 million visits each year.

Waiheke Escapes Limited will have access to dozens of unique distribution channels, as well as over 50 national, regional, and speciality distribution channel partners. We can select partners that will help us reach our target customer and best represent your properties. We can even choose which specific properties we like each partner to promote!

Marketing & Statistics: To get the best value from marketing, we target visitors from a range of markets. According to Tourism New Zealand, more than 10 million people actively think about a New Zealand holiday. We can’t target them all so we take a strategic approach to identify and market in selected emerging markets and sectors with our International Media Programmes. We target primarily into the US, Canada, Germany, UK, Europe, China and Australian markets and domestic travellers by running consumer marketing campaigns.

It takes a village to make a business successful, so we’ve developed meaningful partnerships with local services and solution partners to grow and deliver outstanding guest experiences. Is Airbnb taking rentals off the market?
As demand in short term accommodation increases, Auckland real estate is worried that home-sharing business Airbnb could be cutting rental accommodation choice in a City where tenants are already competing hard for places.

Early America’s Cup interest in seaside land.
Fresh from losing the America’s Cup, billionaire Larry Ellison and his syndicate Oracle Team USA look set to want a crack at winning it back. The Herald on Sunday has learnt that representatives for Ellison and other syndicates set to contest the Cup in four years are looking for property in the Auckland area. He said other options were also in Waiheke, where it was possible to buy a waterfront home and park your yacht in front for under $5m.
