The Waiheke Art Gallery proudly displays a range of exhibitions that inspire and delight – showing the best art that New Zealand has to offer as well as promoting local Waiheke artists. It is a not-for-profit society that first opened its doors in 1995, and they are proud to have received two national awards for two exhibitions – the Walker & Hall Waiheke Art Award and the Small Sculpture prize.

Community Cinema

The Waiheke Island Community Cinema has been running for over 10 years. It is a charitable trust, run by a board of trustees and volunteers who keep it open 7 days a week. Currently, there are over 20 screenings of movies a week.

The Cinema plays a mixture of the latest releases, along with short documentaries made by local filmmakers. The Cinema trust is proud to provide funding support for these filmmakers, as well as running training and mentoring programmes for young, local filmmakers.

EcoZip

The Ecozip is a huge flying-fox that allows you to fly alongside a friend over some of Waiheke Islands most breath-taking views.  The Ecozip team based their business around a few specific goals – to incorporate the latest, greatest and safest zip line technology, to deliver stunning long-range views from an amazing location, to encompass ‘dual’ zip lines and to transport guests into a beautiful native New Zealand forest.

Kayaking

For those who prefer activities on the open sea! Sea Kayak Waiheke offer a range of services, from freedom hire to full day guided tours. They specialise in giving people a real experience of Waiheke’s beautiful coast. On their guided tours (which have been described as legendary) you will see a variety of wonders including caves, coves, hidden beaches along with Waiheke’s stunning flora and fauna.

Stand Up Paddle Board Waiheke

Waiheke Board Riders is a water sports rental company that operates from both Oneroa and Onetangi beaches on Waiheke Island. They specialise in Stand Up Paddle Boards (SUP) but also have soft top surfboards and boogie boards as well. They give comprehensive ‘on water’ SUP lessons to individuals or small groups, or basic beach instruction and let you have fun and figure it out for yourself. Fitness boot camps are also available at an hourly rate and night tours will be coming soon!

Walk Series

The Walk Series is a very popular activity that consists of a variety of walks available on Waiheke Island. The Series itself has eight main walks, most of which take about two hours to complete. There are also lists of alternate walks available on the Auckland Council website.
