What’s On on Waiheke Island

There are many activities on Waiheke that keep the Island buzzing all year round. The majority of these events occur annually and are listed below. Garden Safari

2015 marks the 15th anniversary of the Waiheke Garden Safari! Check out the Garden Safari being held 7th-8th November.

Literary Festival

The Waiheke Literary Festival is being held 13th – 15th November at a few locations –  the Waiheke Artworks Theatre, Morra Hall, Cable Bay Vineyard & Restaurant and the Waiheke Community Library.

Olive & Artisan Food Festival

The Olive & Artisan Food Festival takes place over 22nd & 23rd November and is dedicated to olive oil on the beautiful Rangihoua Estate. The festival provides not only gustatory pleasures, but also educational seminars, a range of Waiheke wines and live music to help you relax. Be sure to get your tickets!

Onetangi Beach Races

The beach races are held at the glorious Onetangi beach every year, at the end of April, or the beginning of March. Whether you are racing or just observing, it promises to be a day of fun for all ages.

Oyster Festival

The Waiheke Oyster Festival is taking place on Saturday 10th October from 11 am – 5 pm. Come to Rangihoua Estate to try NZ’s freshest oysters!

Saturday Markets

Check out the Saturday markets, held every week, at the Belgium Street Reserve in Ostend. The markets are open from 7.30 am and are sure to be a real community market with a variety of goods on display!

Sculpt Oneroa

The Sculpt Oneroa movement occurs annually over summer, between mid-December and late February. During this time, holiday goers and locals alike can visit Oneroa village to view a range of amazing sculptural works dotted throughout the village- many of which are available for sale.

The Walking Festival

The Walking Festival is held annually in late October to mid-November. The event takes place over 9 days featuring 38 guided walks. The walks explore stunning vineyards, bush reserves and beautiful beaches. Further, the range of walks are designed to cater to a range of people- they can be short, long, child and animal friendly, or full of history!

Waiheke Fun Run/ Walk

The Fun Run/Walk occurs annually in January on the island. There are a number of options available to cater to a range of abilities. There are courses of 7 km, 13 km or 25 km and it is up to you whether you walk or run! Be sure to register if you wish to take part.

Waiheke Jazz Festival

This festival takes place over the Easter break annually. It provides an amazing opportunity to listen to talented local and international jazz musicians and singers, at a number of venues around the island. Wine & Food Festival

Saturday 2nd April 2016 – 11.00 am – 5.30 pm.

An unmissable summer’s day out on Waiheke Island, taste boutique Waiheke wines and artisan food in one location, while basking in the sounds of some top live music. Kicking off at 11am until 5:30pm on Saturday 2 April, enjoy gourmet food and wine with a live soundtrack of musicians, including internationally renowned Nathan Haines band, Aaron Carpenter & the Revelators, Rikki Morris and Chet O’Connell and Rain Dogs.
